A Growing Intolerance Of Those Who Refuse To Deny Christ

Just yesterday Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson became the next target as his faith in God about human sexuality was recently publicized.

When asked about homosexuality, he paraphrased 1 Cor 6:9.

But what really caused the cable network A&E to take action and suspend Phil from the show was when he called homosexuality a sin, Phil said; “But hey, sin - It's not logical, my man.”

Phil didn’t say anything that is not found in the Bible, in which Christ is Lord and has given Christians instructions on how to live and determine what is right and wrong.

If Phil were to deny what the Bible says he would be denying that Christ is Lord, which is to deny Christianity.

Denying Christ Is Lord

What Hollywood and the entertainment industry behind them are really asking Phil to do is to deny his faith in Christ.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 tells us that rejecting natural sexuality is rejecting Christ and Matthew 10:32-33 tells us;

“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

To deny Christ before men is to give up your salvation in Christ, yet that is what the entertainment culture is asking Phil to do – publicly deny his faith in Christ.

But the entertainment industry does not see it that way. Because some of the groups that are crying foul are ‘Christians.'  So how could these ‘Christian’ groups be wrong about what “sin” is or about what opinions are tolerable?

The entertainment industry is confused because they don’t have the knowledge about Christianity to understand who to believe, nor do they have an incentive to care.  They see the division within Christianity as support for their idea of reality: postmodernism.  They just listen to the most powerful groups that have the most influence and assume they are right because they keep the money coming in.  Truth does not matter, in fact, it does not even exist in postmodernism.

The Bible warns us about this very thing in the book of Jude, which is just before the book of Revelation which is about the revelation of Christ.

“But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you”.  – Jude 1:17

A few verses before that we read how this happens, in Jude 1:4:

“… have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ as our only Sovereign and Lord.”

Today we see these things.  Many people call themselves Christians and even attend a Christian church – “have secretly slipped in among you” – and are using the grace of God as a license for immorality, which is to deny that Christ is Lord.

The entertainment industry does not realize what they are doing, moving the nation one step closer to criminalizing Christianity is like pushing on the pillars that hold society together.

Sin Is Insane

The other thing Phil said was that sin is insane “… sin - It's not logical” and that didn’t sit well either because the entertainment culture thinks they are the only ones that are thinking logically and have it all together.   Along comes a duck hunter to tell them that they are not thinking clearly but irrationally.

But again, that is what the Bible reaffirms:

"This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one fate for all men. Furthermore, the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil and insanity is in their hearts throughout their lives." - Ecclesiastes 9:3

The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus

This book effectively equips Christians to witness to their friends, neighbors, and families using the historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. Habermas and Licona begin with a discussion about the importance of the resurrection of Jesus to Christianity. Then this book takes several arguments that attempt to dispute the resurrection of Christ and explains why they are unreasonable given the evidence we have.

How God Became King: The Forgotten Story of the Gospels

Wright's claim that Jesus becoming king is the point of the gospels may not sound all that shocking to readers upon first glance. Wright is really saying is that the story goes all the way back to creation, when sin entered the world and gained a legal foothold on earth, in which Christ gained back on the cross, dethroning all other claims of rulers on earth. History is not unfolding based on our work. Wright shows us that Christ is not going to rule some day in the future, but he is already King, actively and involved, unfolding history according to his plan.

America's War on Christianity

There is a war raging in America. On one side sits religion and freedom. On the other side, atheism and Statism. American liberty hangs in the balance. In this timely and well-documented by author Brad O'Leary who takes you deep inside the battle to save our nation's Judeo Christian identity, and with it, our liberty.

What Is Marriage?: Man and Woman: A Defense

As many nations are facing an attack on marriage, this book brilliantly explains why the definition of marriage is so critical and why defending marriage is absolutely essential to freedom. The authors remove religion from the discussion and show exactly why defending natural marriage in civil law is for the best of everyone regardless of religion. And finally, this book deflates the argument of “marriage equality." Equal to what? Equal in what ways? This book is perhaps the greatest contribution to this debate this year.
