Come Watch One Man’s Journey To The Cross Presented By The Pilgrim’s Progress Musical

Several months ago a group of young students from St. Cloud many of which had previously performed in Homeschool Theater, decided to perform a musical of their own.

They wanted to do something that would present the gospel message.

They chose Pilgrim’s Progress.  Pilgrim’s Progress is a musical based on John Bunyan's classic novel, Pilgrim's Progress. It is a powerful and inspiring presentation of the Gospel and is the story of one man's journey to the cross and beyond.

The idea to perform Pilgrim originated one night when a group of Christian youth was watching a DVD of Pilgrim produced by Covenant Life Church youth in Maryland.

I spoke with cast member, Alyssa Potter and she said:

“The group that was watching the DVD thought it would be a wonderful ministry outreach to do together, so they got a few friends together for a core group of leaders. We asked Fellowship Bible Church to sponsor us, moved forward with the planning process, and named our group Ransom Theatre. Ransom Theatre is a non-profit, youth run ministry outreach organization with the mission of spreading the Gospel to the St. Cloud area. We have been doing logistical work for Pilgrim since April and have been conducting rehearsals since the middle of July.

Putting on Pilgrim has been such an incredible growth experience for each of us as we've worked together through thick and thin and have had to rely on God for daily patience and strength and for provision of resources. It's been so awesome to see God at work in this production as He has been making it possible for us to do, and things have come together in ways we could never have achieved without Him. The Lord is so faithful and we owe it all to Him!”

Pilgrim will be performed at Calvary Community Church in St. Cloud on November 9th, 10th, and 11th at 7 pm and on November 12th at 2 and 7 pm.

Tickets are available at the doors, which open a half hour prior to the show. Costs are $5 for adults, $3 for children/ students, and $15 for families of four or more.

And get this, youth groups are FREE.  Just have your youth pastor come to the ticket table and tell the sales person how many youth he has with for the show, and they'll give the youth group a free pass.

They are expecting somewhere between 1000-3000 people to attend.  “When we first came up with this idea, I did not think it would get this big” - Alyssa Potter

They feel they are very blessed to have the support of Fellowship Bible Church (FBC) and Calvary Community Church. It is not easy to get access to Church facilities like this.  “We are so blessed” - Alyssa Potter

The cast members include about 20 young adults with another 40 supporting roles. They are performing five shows in four days.  Don’t miss this exciting show in St. Cloud this week.

Saving Leonardo: A Call to Resist the Secular Assault on Mind, Morals, and Meaning

Is secularism a positive force in the modern world? Nancy Pearcey makes a compelling case that secularism is destructive and dehumanizing and if not confronted, will lead the world into hell on earth. The goal of this book is to equip you to detect, decipher, and defeat the monolithic secularism that is spreading rapidly and imposing its values on your family and hometown. As such, she calls Christians to abandon the "fortress mentality" that has been prominent for years; a mentality that gravitates to isolation from the world. Once again, the faith of Christians is needed to save the world.

The Purpose Driven Life

The spiritual premise in The Purpose-Driven Life is that there are no accidents---God planned everything and everyone. Therefore, every human has a divine purpose, according to God's master plan. Formatted in 40 chapters, makes it an excellent tool for study groups to read and discuss. It emphasizes the importance of Christian character development and of becoming an active member of a community of believers.

Right From Wrong

In a culture that rejects the concepts of truth and morality. Josh McDowell offers hope and provides families and the church with a sound, thorough, biblical and workable method to clearly understand and defend the truth. Josh tells us that there is an absolute truth and can be understood and used to teach what is right and what is wrong and why is it so important to know the difference.

Don’t Waste Your Life

Most people spend their lives on trivial diversions, seeking to gain comfort and pleasure for themselves. But Jesus said, "Whoever loses his life for my sake will save it." If the path to God-exalting joy and purpose is to "lose" your life rather than to waste it, then what are you waiting for? Some people may be offended by some things that he says - that simply going to work and raising your kids aren't all that God has called you to. There's a greater calling to consider. In conclusion, Piper makes his appeal to the reader "in the name of Jesus to wake up, and enlarge your heart, and stretch your mind, and spread your wings." For when all is said and done, what really matters is that those who are lost are lost no more.
