Even The Angels Marvel At What The Lord Did For Us

Merry Christmas Central MN, 2000 years ago the Lord came into the world as a baby.

We didn’t get a chance to see Jesus with our own eyes yet, but we will soon enough. Peter, who was one of Jesus’ apostles,  talked about how we can be full of joy and madly in love with Jesus even though we have not seen him yet.

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,” – 1 Peter 1:8

Peter goes on to tell us that the prophets searched intently and with the greatest care, looking for when Christ would come to the earth, studying and marveling at what he would accomplish. What the Lord did 2000 years ago will forever be the greatest wonder of the world.

The birth of Christ was not revealed to the world rulers.  Not even the prophets of the Lord, who knew he was coming, could figure out exactly when and how he would come. They studied the scriptures with intensity, but yet didn't know when Christ would come. The birth of Christ was not revealed to the religious leaders.

Instead, the Lord made the announcement by sending an angel to tell lowly shepherds in a field. Peter tells us that the revealation of Christ to the world was so astounding that even the angels marvel over these things. (1 Peter 1:12)

Now think about that.  The angels were around when God created the heaven and the earth, the stars and billions of creatures on earth. They saw God battle Satan and kick him out of heaven along with 1/3 of the angels that joined him.

The angels observed all these things, so they knew the great power and wisdom of the Lord. Yet, the event of leaving his throne to come to earth as a baby in human form to live among us and die for us - was something they had never saw coming. These events revealed a charactor of God that the angels have never seen before.

To this day, the angels in heaven are reading and studying the testimonies and stories of how Christ came to earth.

The Creator of heaven and earth left his throne and came to live as a man in a fallen world, so that fallen men could be redeemed and restored to be holy like he is.  The angels in heaven marvel at what he did to achieve this.

He did what no one else could do. He came to pay our debt because it was higher then we can pay, much like our national debt.

The reason we cannot pay our debt is because the debt of sin is death.  And the debt of sin must be paid for God to remain just, and justice is required for his Kingdom to last forever.  A king cannot remain a king without justice.  Without the full payment of death, justice would not be served.

We all want justice when someone wrongs us and we want judges that are just and uphold the laws so that everyone that has committed a crime against us will pay for the crime.

The debt of the crime of wickedness, which we are all born with, inherited from our parents, is death and when I say death I mean spiritual death. The debt we owe we cannot pay. It is too high. Nothing we have or could gain can pay the debt we all owe. Our debt cannot be paid with money.

Peter tells us that it was not with silver or gold that our debt was paid.

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed” - 1 Peter 1:18

Our debt was paid for with the blood of Christ.

“but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” – 1 Peter 1:19

This is why Christ came to earth 2000 years ago.

And get this, he knew he would have to pay our debt with the life of his Son before he even created the world.

“He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.”- 1 Peter 1:20

Join me and the angels as we marvel over these things this Christmas and share them with your family.

Twelve Unlikely Heroes: How God Commissioned Unexpected People in the Bible and What He Wants to Do with You

John MacArthur in his new book, "Twelve Unlikely Heroes" shows us that God picks unexpected and ordinary people to be heroes of his Kingdom. These twelve gave up everything, from family to careers to their futures to join the ministry of Christ. Who are the “Heroes" of our day? For some, it might be the image of someone with great influence or popularity. But from God’s perspective, a hero is someone that has followed after Christ to gain the knowledge of God, which has the power to transform the world.

How God Became King: The Forgotten Story of the Gospels

Wright's claim that Jesus becoming king is the point of the gospels may not sound all that shocking to readers upon first glance. Wright is really saying is that the story goes all the way back to creation, when sin entered the world and gained a legal foothold on earth, in which Christ gained back on the cross, dethroning all other claims of rulers on earth. History is not unfolding based on our work. Wright shows us that Christ is not going to rule some day in the future, but he is already King, actively and involved, unfolding history according to his plan.

The Case for a Creator: A Journalist Investigates Scientific Evidence That Points Toward God

Former journalist and skeptic Lee Strobel has discovered something very interesting about science. Far from being the enemy of faith, science may now provide a solid foundation for believing in God. Has science finally discovered God? Certainly new discoveries in such scientific disciplines as cosmology, cellular biology, astronomy, physics and DNA research are pointing to the incredible complexity of our universe, a complexity best explained by the existence of a Creator.

The Triumph of Christianity: How the Jesus Movement Became the World's Largest Religion

This is an honest look at how Jesus became the most important person in the history of the world. The story is fascinating because, there is a case to be made that the most important and influential person in the history of mankind was Jesus. There are other contenders, naturally; Buddha and Confucius come to mind, perhaps Muhammad. But the history of Christianity, plus the amazing speed with which it is growing in Africa and Latin America right now, certainly makes Jesus a very serious candidate. So, how did it happen? Up to now, there haven't been many satisfactory answers, unless you are content to admit that Jesus is God.
