Spirit 9.29’s Successful Spring Fundraiser Testifies of Community Support For Positive Radio

By: Curtis Ophoven 0 Comments   4/2/2011

The Spring Fundraiser at Spirit 92.9 last week was a huge success. Thanks for everyone that participated and invested in positive Christian radio in Central MN.

The three day fundraiser raised almost one hundred thousand dollars.  What a testimony that the community fully supports the positive message they bring to the air waves every day in Central MN.

The success they have had over the last decade continues to accelerate.  One of the many things Spirit 92.9 has brought to Central MN is music concerts by leading Christian bands.  Last December they brought in the Newsboys and NewSong for their Christmas tour and it was awesome.  I will remember that experience for a long time.

Next week, they brought in Phillips, Craig & Dean, Friday, April 8 at 7pm at Calvary Community Church, St. Cloud, tickets are $25 each (includes a $2 handling fee) and can be purchased on their website HERE

Spirit 92.9 is a blessing to our city, bringing positive music that builds up families with a constant stream of music by leading Christian artists.

If you get a chance or run into someone from Spirit 92.9, take a moment and thank them for all the hard work they do to shape and influence our community.

One God, One Truth: The Clear and Simple Evidence

It gives definitive and accurate data on why the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the one true God of the Universe. Not only does it give evidence on the accuracy of the Bible but it gives proof of the errors in other religions in a sensitive and loving manner. It is not a book focused on putting down people of other faiths but rather a loving approach to help others recognize the one true God. I highly recommend this book to every Christian who has people in their life that they want to impact with the truth.

Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream

David Platt reflects a wider move of God through which He is stirring His people to live radically for Him to finish discipline all nations (Mt. 24:14 and Mt 28:18-20). Platt urges us to discover Jesus as our sole treasure, to lay aside everything that keeps us from pursuing Him above all else, and to realize that "It's Not About Me." This is the complete opposite message that the world is telling us, that we are the center of the universe and we should live for our personal desires and ambitions without a care in the world for anyone else. The maturity of evil is complete selfishness, while the maturity of righteousness is complete abandonment of selfishness. The harvest is ready.

The Victory of Reason: How Christianity Led to Freedom, Capitalism, and Western Success

Rodney Stark tells how Christianity gave rise not only to visions of reason and progress but also to the construction of capitalism. Stark shows that Christianity is a forward-looking religion, with bold faith in progress and in its followers' abilities to understand God over time. It was this future-based rational theology that encouraged the development of technical and organizational advances, such as the monastic estates and universities of the Middle Ages. Stark concludes by maintaining that Christianity continues to spread in places like Africa, China and Latin America because of its faith in progress. One could draw a conclusion from this work, that Christianity is the cornerstone of global economic development.

The Case for Marriage: Why Married People Are Happier, Healthier, and Better Off Financially

Marriage is a public health issue: being single can take almost 10 years off a man's life. The authors combat every negative myth regarding marriage--that it imprisons women or provides the context for abuse--with statistics showing its benefits: married people live longer, are healthier, have greater wealth and happiness, have sex more often, and provide a healthier, happier environment in which to raise children. The authors debunk many myths about marriage and explain the how and why for these results by translating social science theories into layman’s terms. The conclusion is that it is in our best interest to strengthen and uphold marriage and uphold the laws that work to strengthen it.
