The 2012 Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Was A Success

ST. CLOUD – The 34th Annual Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast was worth the wait. The event was held last Thursday at the St. Cloud Rivers Edge Convention Center.

This year's Mayors' Prayer Breakfast was attended by over 650, the largest turnout to date.

Mayors from surrounding cities, pastors and business leaders from all over Central MN were in attendance.

This year's keynote speaker was Shaunti Feldhahn, author of over 20 books.

Shaunti told her story of how God directed her life and led her into what she loves.  It began when she was fired from a job and in her despair, God showed her a new opportunity.  At the time, she was a little unsure of what God seemed to be leading her to do.  The nation was facing the Y2K computer virus and fear was gripping the nation and the church.

Shaunti knew that the church was not supposed to be gripped with fear, because fear is really just unbelief in the reality of God, unchanging, all knowing and all powerful.

Shaunti wanted to write the book to help the church and the nation find the courage to face the Y2K crisis.   She felt God leading her to write this book, but she knew she had little chance of getting it published and marketed in time.

She had never published a book before and had no contacts or experience in book publishing.  But the Lord brought the perfect person for her to run into, a well-connected executive publisher that was looking for someone to write a book on this very subject.  The rest is history.

Shaunti’s testimony of how the Lord personally stepped into her life and turned her situation of loss into a new direction with an even greater influence than she had envisioned was great news.  Because the same God that did that for her, is personally interested in our future as well.

Shaunti Feldhahn is a popular public speaker, research analyst and best-selling author with 2 million copies of her books sold in 18 different languages. Here are a few of her most popular books;

  • For Women Only: What You Need to Know about the Inner Lives of Men
  • For Men Only: A Straightforward Guide to the Inner Lives of Women
  • For Couples Only: Eyeopenning Insights about How the Opposite Sex Thinks

One of her newest books, just published in 2012 is

  • Made to Crave for Young Women: Satisfying Your Deepest Desires with God

To close out the 2012 Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast was none other then Scott Adams, Executive Director of the CBMC, giving the closing remarks and leading the entire convention center in the sinner's prayer to believe in Christ.  The music by Pam Nelson and team was also outstanding.

The Christian Business Men's Committee (CBMC) of St. Cloud is the host of the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. CBMC also organizes several bible studies in the St. Cloud area. If you are interested in joining, here is the list.

Thanks to everyone that was part of this year’s Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast.

Gospel: Recovering the Power that Made Christianity Revolutionary

This book shows the relevancy of Christ and the gospel and how it works not only in the past, and in the future, but especially in the NOW. We are the NOW generation, and the best way to live in the NOW is to apply the gospel daily. The most powerful words in the world are in the scriptures and available for us to read and meditate upon, day and night so that we can overcome the things of this world and live in victory each day.

Not a Fan: Becoming a Completely Committed Follower of Jesus

This book will help you take an honest look at yourself and realize what is truly in your heart. Jesus was never interested in drawing a crowd. He was interesting in gaining followers. Not of religion or legalism, but followers of Him. Idleman goes to great lengths to help the reader understand what it means to truly follow Christ. We live in an age where the Gospel and cost of following Christ are often softened and watered down. Following Christ is about much more than just a "Get Out of Hell Free" card. It involves sacrifice, dying to self, and surrendering everything to Him. He may not ask us to give up everything, but a true follower is willing to do so if He does ask.

The Triumph of Christianity: How the Jesus Movement Became the World's Largest Religion

This is an honest look at how Jesus became the most important person in the history of the world. The story is fascinating because, there is a case to be made that the most important and influential person in the history of mankind was Jesus. There are other contenders, naturally; Buddha and Confucius come to mind, perhaps Muhammad. But the history of Christianity, plus the amazing speed with which it is growing in Africa and Latin America right now, certainly makes Jesus a very serious candidate. So, how did it happen? Up to now, there haven't been many satisfactory answers, unless you are content to admit that Jesus is God.

The Victory of Reason: How Christianity Led to Freedom, Capitalism, and Western Success

Rodney Stark tells how Christianity gave rise not only to visions of reason and progress but also to the construction of capitalism. Stark shows that Christianity is a forward-looking religion, with bold faith in progress and in its followers' abilities to understand God over time. It was this future-based rational theology that encouraged the development of technical and organizational advances, such as the monastic estates and universities of the Middle Ages. Stark concludes by maintaining that Christianity continues to spread in places like Africa, China and Latin America because of its faith in progress. One could draw a conclusion from this work, that Christianity is the cornerstone of global economic development.
