The Mayan Calendar 12-21-2012 Hoax And What It Really Points To

By: Curtis Ophoven 0 Comments   12/19/2012

The Mayan Calendar was created long ago. The theory goes that 12-21-12 will be the beginning of a new age of spiritual enlightenment.

In short, the Mayans believed that the universe contains the force of life, which is part of everyone and collectively this force of life is god.  It sounds a lot like ‘the force’ from Star-Wars.

In the end, the Mayans worshiped the god of the universe rather than the God of the bible. One of the key differences of the Mayans from other societies that worshipped pagan gods was that the Mayans believed in one true god, and that all other religions were part of this one true god – the universe.

The Claim Of Truth

The Mayan religion is a totalitarian system, which stands directly against the totalitarian reality of Christianity.  The postmodernism worldview of the 21st century must be unaware of this because it rejects religions that claim to have the truth. Giving any credibility to the Mayan religious system is a clear contradiction to its worldview that it uses to discard Christianity.

If the Mayan religion has any truth to it, then Christianity must be false and everything about Christ must be a hoax.  Of course to believe this, one would have to deceive themselves into believing against all the evidence in the world that shows us that Christianity is indeed true.

The result of this is that putting faith in the Mayan calendar is putting doubt in the knowledge of Christ.  The theory of the Mayan calendar causes a weakening of faith in Christ, which is the ultimate goal of promoting the Mayan calendar.

The media’s obsession with the Mayan calendar prediction is hypocritical of their denial of biblical prophecy. The secular scholars discard bible prophecy because it is based on an old book the bible, yet the Mayan calendar is nearly as old.  The contradictions are undeniable.

The Universe Worships The Lord

The Lord told us not to look to the universe for understanding, because doing so is worshiping the creation rather than the Creator.

“And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars-all the heavenly array--do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.” – Deut. 4:19

The universe worships the Lord as the heavens declare his glory day and night, the skies proclaim the work of his hands. - Psalm 19:1-6

If the universe could speak, it would cry out and sing praises to God. - Luke 19:40

The universe is eagerly waiting for the revelation of the sons of God, so that it can rejoice in the work of God and the curse of sin can be removed from it. - Romans 8:19

The earth trembles and the mountains shake in response to the Lord. - Psalm 18:7

Setting A Date

Jesus told us that no one will know the hour or the day (Matt 24:36) that he will return and forever change the history of the earth.  The moment that someone sets a date for this event is the moment that we know they do not know what the Lord is doing.

The most important prophetic date in the last century is 1948, the year that Israel became a nation again after being destroyed in 70AD almost 2000 years ago.  This event is the beginning of many events leading up to the return of Christ.

If the Mayan calendar could have predicted a major year of spiritual awakening it should have been 1948.  The Mayan calendar was either off by 64 years or completely missed this event, either way it is clear that the Mayan religion has no idea what the Lord is doing.

There are other secular prophets like the Mayans that have come up with the 2012 date. But all that these secular prophets prove is that Satan is trying to establish credibility by counterfeiting bible prophecy.

Counterfeit prophecies are easy to spot.  They almost always point to dates without an explanation of what is going to happen. Bible prophecies point to events with details about what is going to happen and which nations are going to be involved.

The Lord tells us that there is no one else that can predict the future.

“I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from the ancient times the things that are not yet done.” – Isaiah 46:9-10.

If Satan is going to deceive the entire world into thinking that he is god, as predicted and allowed by God, then he is going to have to gain credibility that he can predict the future as only God can.

Therefore the popularity of counterfeit prophecies like the Mayan calendar are the fulfillment of the prophecies of the bible, proving both that they are counterfeit and that the bible is true.

There are a lot of ‘end times’ biblical prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled in books like Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Matthew and Revelations.  Major changes are coming upon the world. If you really want to know what the Lord is doing, these are the books to study.
