Why A Christian Education Is Far Superior To A Secular Education

Deciding which school to put your children in is not easy today.  Many parents don’t have a lot of good choices.  If your children are in a secular school, you should know what they are learning so that you know how to re-educate them when they get home.

The advantage of a Christian school (private or homeschool) is that children begin with the truth.

The full account of the reality of the world that we live in, both material and spiritual.

Beginning with how the world was created to how sin and death entered the world when Adam and Eve sins, and then how Jesus stepped into history to save humanity from their death sentence.

With this foundation, all questions can be asked and answered.  Without this foundation, a secular education cannot even begin to answer the many questions children have.  By denying the spiritual and supernatural part of the world, a secular education can only cover a very limited set of knowledge, leaving students unsatisfied and unable to find a place in the world that is worthy of their dedication.  This is because a secular education has no basis for a cause to life, and no basis for a purpose to life, and no understanding of discipline or forgiveness, grace or mercy.

Without purpose, the secular education cannot answer basic questions like "Why forgive?" or "Why work diligently?" or "Why gain knowledge?".  The problems in the public schools today are symptoms of these unanswered questions that they have no answers for.  This is why a Christian education is far superior to a secular education.

“Neutral” Place

Schools have been able to convince a lot of people that they are a "neutral” place for their children.  That they don't teach religion.  That they are "neutral" regarding teaching about God, but in reality they teach religion in every class.  It is impossible to teach a "neutral" position on God, either you build your knowledge on belief in God or on unbelief in God.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6

"Whoever is not with me is against me" - Matthew 12:20

Either you believe in God or you believe in something else.  Under the narrative of "neutrality" and "tolerance" schools have adopted the teaching of Secular Humanism.  Even they have become deceived by their own deception, believing they are following the rule of separation of church and state by teaching Secular Humanism, without realizing that Secular Humanism is a religion.  Secular Humanism has become the only religion that is tolerated in the schools today under the disguise that it is not a religion.

Rather than a neutral place, secular schools actively suppress the truth, teach children to deny Christianity as the truth and instead believe in the creeds of Secular Humanism.   At the heart of Secular Humanism is unbelief in God.

Here is a quote from the founding document of Secular Humanism, the Humanist Manifesto published in 1973, which states:

“We find insufficient evidence for belief in the existence of a supernatural; it is either meaningless or irrelevant to the question of the survival and fulfillment of the human race. As non-theists, we begin with humans not God, nature not deity.”

David A. Noebel has documented the history of how Secular Humanism became the religion of the schools in his book; "Clergy in the Classroom: The Religion of Secular Humanism".

Teaching Secular Humanism in schools does not separate church and state, rather it combines them, which is a violation of the US Constitution.  By removing the teaching of the bible from the schools, we didn't separate church and state, rather we replaced Christianity with Secular Humanism as the primary religion taught in schools.

The problems of teaching Secular Humanism have just begun to show up.  With moral relativity at the foundation, it translates into selfishness, godlessness, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, etc., pretty much just as described in 2 Tim 3.

Good News

The good news is that we don't have to be deceived.  We can read history, read the bible, gain the knowledge about what has happen and what our children are being taught. We can get involved in our schools and point this out.  And most importantly, we can teach our children the truth when they get home from school.

The Book that Made Your World: How the Bible Created the Soul of Western Civilization

This book is perhaps the greatest explanation of the influence of the Bible on Western Civilization and its positive role in creating much of the good that many in the west take for granted, from the freedoms of women to simple respect for life. It testifies to the world just how awesome and powerful the Word of God is to people. It is truly amazing how many facets of our lives are touched by the teachings of the Bible. The knowledge of Christ is truly the only knowledge that can sustain any nation. There is no other knowledge that a people can build upon. Over and over he notes how it is people of faith who have historically made the biggest difference to those in need. Virtually all progress has been built by missionaries, and the mind set of missions is none other than the command of Christ.

Saving Leonardo: A Call to Resist the Secular Assault on Mind, Morals, and Meaning

Is secularism a positive force in the modern world? Nancy Pearcey makes a compelling case that secularism is destructive and dehumanizing and if not confronted, will lead the world into hell on earth. The goal of this book is to equip you to detect, decipher, and defeat the monolithic secularism that is spreading rapidly and imposing its values on your family and hometown. As such, she calls Christians to abandon the "fortress mentality" that has been prominent for years; a mentality that gravitates to isolation from the world. Once again, the faith of Christians is needed to save the world.

Worshipping the State: How Liberalism Became Our State Religion

The age of great deception is upon us. Our leaders have been deceived into believing that they can turn the culture away from Christianity and our nation will remain free and prosperous. They think there is such a thing as a government and culture that is religiously neutral, and by de-Christianizing society they are helping to create a better nation. What they don’t realize is that they are exchanging a Christian culture for a state controlled religion – which will make things much, much worse. This book points to a mountain of facts to prove just that. Christianity is being replaced with the national religion of secular humanism – replacing our trust in God with a government dictatorship.

Legislating Morality: Is it Wise? Is it Legal? Is it Possible?

Many Christians have foolishly bought into public school arguments about separation of church and state. This book goes back to all the court decisions which were made over the last 100 years which led to this common idea we hear today. The book clearly shows that Jefferson never intended separation of church and state the way it is being taken out of context today. Turek explains how these court decisions led to making secular humanism the default religion taught in public schools today.
