Do You Know The Truth?

Pastor Craig Moore   2/20/2013

Pastor Craig Moore is the Senior Pastor at Life Assembly of God Church in Rapid City, SD

I am going through "Experiencing God", a study that has been around a long time.  I teach a class on Wed. nights that is going through this with me.

God really speaks to me through this study. Today I am asking myself what is truth?

When Jesus came upon a funeral service going on, for the only son of a widow in the town of Nain, everyone would have said the truth is –

"This widow has lost her husband and now she has lost her son.  He is dead, she is alone and will live the rest of her life without any family to care for her" (Luke 7:11-17).

Those are factual statements.  However, Jesus is the Truth!  Jesus shows up and puts his hands on the coffin and speaks to the young man, "Young man, I say to you GET UP!"

Now the truth that the people would have seen was, that is impossible -- "He's dead!"  But with God nothing is impossible. vs:15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

Jesus told his disciples to give the multitude following him and listening to his teaching, something to eat.  They could only come up with five small loaves and two fish from a boy’s lunch.

The fact is you can't feed over five thousand people with so little.  The fact is they did not have enough money to purchase food for this many people.  The fact is what Jesus was asking them to do was impossible.

But, once again, Jesus is the God of the impossible.  He is the Truth!  So, the absolute truth cannot be measured until you have heard from God.  Nothing is truth until God has spoken. Because with God all things are possible!

He is therefore "THE TRUTH" Jesus blessed it and told them to pass out to the 5,000 + people the 5 small loaves and the 2 fish.  It multiplied, and multiplied and multiplied again and again.  After everyone had been fed they collected 12 baskets full of left overs.

Do you KNOW THE TRUTH?  John 8:32 says, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free!"  Jesus is not referring to knowing the facts.

He is not suggesting that if you know all of the facts of your situation you will be set free.  No way, that's true!  He is saying if you know Jesus - The TRUTH, He will set you free.  Never determine the truth of a situation only by looking at the circumstances.  Don't evaluate your situation until you have heard from Jesus.  He is the Truth!

Only he can set you free from any dilemma you face.  He has the power to do the impossible.  So the next time you face something big that stands against you, don't even think about declaring the hopelessness of your situation.

You first need to talk to Jesus the Truth of your circumstances!

May God bless your socks off! Have a great day!

The Unshakable Truth: How You Can Experience the 12 Essentials of a Relevant Faith

This is a very insightful, Bible-centered, and well researched book that covers 12 foundational Christian beliefs. This is an excellent book for anyone questioning the Christian faith or anyone wanted to strengthen their faith or defend their faith. Nothing can be more worthy to study, then to study why the foundation of Christianity has stood the test of time, while remaining the only religion that is open to criticism. Scripture even invites us to prove otherwise if that were possible. Unlike all other religions that are protected by theocratic rulers and persecuted control of investigating their documents, Christianity has only been proven to be correct by anyone that has done the research and looked at the mountain of evidence. Take a look and see for yourself why the story of Christ is completely accurate.

The Truth War

Truth is under attack, and much is at stake. Christians are caught in the crossfire of alternative Christian histories, emerging faulty texts, and a cultural push to eliminate absolute Truth altogether. In this amazing new book, MacArthur reclaims the unwavering certainty of God's Truth and anchors Christians in the eternal, immovable promises that are found in His Word.

Right From Wrong

In a culture that rejects the concepts of truth and morality. Josh McDowell offers hope and provides families and the church with a sound, thorough, biblical and workable method to clearly understand and defend the truth. Josh tells us that there is an absolute truth and can be understood and used to teach what is right and what is wrong and why is it so important to know the difference.

Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetics

J. Gresham Machen once said, "False ideas are the greatest obstacles to the reception of the gospel" - which makes Christian apologetics one of the most important foundations to hold onto a Christian culture. The story of how Christ pursued us is unique among other religions and provides the only positive answers to the many questions of life. This understanding of a positive justification of the Christian faith is greater than any competing world view and therefore crucial for sustaining tolerance for the Christian worldview.
