I Was Impressed To See The St. Cloud Students At The Pole

Pastor Craig Moore   9/25/2013

Pastor Craig Moore is the Senior Pastor at Life Assembly of God Church in Rapid City, SD

This morning I went back to school, South Jr. High; not to attend classes, but to attend See You At The Pole.

I was very encouraged!  There, at 7:30 this morning, were gathered about 20 students from South J.H. around the flagpole to pray for their school (Administrators, teachers and fellow students), their city and their nation.

I was not leading this group, no, it was student led and I was quite impressed with the sincerity and intensity with which these students prayed.  It may not sound like a big deal, but just think, there was another group gathered at Tech H.S. & at Apollo H.S & at Sauk Rapids H.S. and at Sartell H.S. and maybe others in and around our community.

Not only that, there were expected to be over 3 million students praying this morning at their school flagpoles all over the nation and from more than 20 other nations around the world.

I believe there is a spiritual hunger amongst young people today.  Jesus said, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." John 8:32  It is the responsibility of those of us who have come to faith in Jesus Christ to carry the torch to the next generation.  Just like a relay runner carries a baton and hands it off to the next runner.  The hand offs are the most critical moments of the race.  If you cross the finish line first, but have dropped the baton, you still lose the race.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, "These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

Our children are going to grown up, they are going to learn many things, build relationships and move away from parents to go to college, or enter the workforce.  It is of vital importance that we pass the torch of faith to this next generation.  To not only learn about God, but to experience Him and to develop a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

It became clear to me this morning that this process is still very much alive and active in the students that I heard pray out loud around the flagpole at their school as their peers were coming to school.  These students showed courage and strength of character that was very impressive to me. I applaud these students of faith!

If you know of students that attended a SYATP, tell them how proud you are of them!  It will bless them!

God bless your socks off!

Will Our Generation Speak?

At 23 years old, Grace Mally is part of this generation. Her book, Will Our Generation Speak? A Call to be Bold with the Gospel, offers an invigorating challenge to share the gospel boldly. Filled with personal, real-life experiences, this book is practical and compelling. Mally makes a compelling case to young people, addressing the fears we face and excuses we make, and provides vision for being strong for the Lord in our youth. It contains practical ideas of how to begin conversations, how to ask the right questions, defend the gospel, and walk closely with the Lord ourselves.

Fear Of The Lord

To fear God is not to be afraid of God. He is not some abusive father, but someone to whom we are to show respect, reverence, and honor to. God is not our to get us or punish us. He is good to us and part of his goodness is that he is just to punch those that are wicked, because they do persecute the righteous for no reason other than their hatred of God. Having a fear of God is to understand that he is just and he will hold those that sin against him accountable.

The Book that Made Your World: How the Bible Created the Soul of Western Civilization

This book is perhaps the greatest explanation of the influence of the Bible on Western Civilization and its positive role in creating much of the good that many in the west take for granted, from the freedoms of women to simple respect for life. It testifies to the world just how awesome and powerful the Word of God is to people. It is truly amazing how many facets of our lives are touched by the teachings of the Bible. The knowledge of Christ is truly the only knowledge that can sustain any nation. There is no other knowledge that a people can build upon. Over and over he notes how it is people of faith who have historically made the biggest difference to those in need. Virtually all progress has been built by missionaries, and the mind set of missions is none other than the command of Christ.
