The New Year has come and so has a new set of resolutions and promises. In this process we review how the last 12 Months went as we look at what the next 12 Months will bring. While you perform this annual ritual, keep in mind that the greatest change/adjustment you need to make is going to be the one that happens on the inside.

There are things that you have done that you don’t need to do anymore and things that you will need to do that you have never done before and you now find yourself at a place right in the middle of the two. We call this a transition point, a place where you need to let go of old things while firming up your grip on the new ones.

So here are a few things that you can do in order to make successfully through your transition point. No matter if you are looking for a new job, a new skill, or a new you these steps will get you going and keep you growing.

1. Believe in the change you are trying to make.

- Scripture: Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the is substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.” (KJV)

2. Find, train, and turnover tasks to your replacement(s)

- Scripture: 2 Kings 2:9 “ ‘Tell me what I can do for your before I am taken away.’ And Elisha replied, ‘Please let me inherit a double portion of your anointing and become your successor’ ” (NLT)

3. Take the first step of faith into the place that God in calling you to (NOTE: this is not just where you are willing to go).

- Scripture: Matthew 14:28,29 “ ‘Lord if its you,’ Peter replied, ‘tell me to come to you on the water’ ‘Come’, He said.“

4. Don’t feel bad about the small steps.

- Scripture: Zechariah 4:10 “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin...”

5. Be committed to the vision and know that it will happen

- Scripture: Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” (KJV)

The order that you execute these steps is not as important as the execution itself. See these steps through their end and you will see the change that you have been expecting and the one you have been working for.

There is no need for this year’s resolutions to go undone; you just need to be ready for the transition.
