The REAL 'Superbowl Sunday'

Pastor Doug Vagle   3/23/2013

Pastor Doug Vagle is the senior Pastor at the Waters Church in Sartell, MN.

As a minister of the gospel I LOVE Easter.  It is the time when we celebrate what is preached all year long!

If we didn't have a risen savior, we wouldn't have any power behind the message of grace we get to preach.

Easter is one of just a couple times per year when everyone seems to get their "Religion" on.  It is a time of year where many will venture back into our doors for the first time since Christmas.

This is exciting because this is such a HUGE opportunity for harvest!  Some seeds that have been planted for years are ready to be harvested!

The Holy Spirit knows what each person coming into each place of worship is needing.  I pray that all of our churches see "ABUNDANT HARVEST" as we all work to see the Kingdom of God increased!

What an exciting time to get to preach hope to a world that is hopeless!

Have a great Easter!

Twelve Unlikely Heroes: How God Commissioned Unexpected People in the Bible and What He Wants to Do with You

John MacArthur in his new book, "Twelve Unlikely Heroes" shows us that God picks unexpected and ordinary people to be heroes of his Kingdom. These twelve gave up everything, from family to careers to their futures to join the ministry of Christ. Who are the “Heroes" of our day? For some, it might be the image of someone with great influence or popularity. But from God’s perspective, a hero is someone that has followed after Christ to gain the knowledge of God, which has the power to transform the world.

Solid Ground: The Inerrant Word of God in an Errant World

The debate about whether or not the bible is the inerrancy Word of God will be one of the defining issues of the coming decade. No generation in the history of American is questioning the bible more than this one. This book answers the challenge, proving what without a double the bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. Therefore, it is value to study and take seriously when questioning what will result in a life of goodness or the life that disappointment and depression.

Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream

David Platt reflects a wider move of God through which He is stirring His people to live radically for Him to finish discipline all nations (Mt. 24:14 and Mt 28:18-20). Platt urges us to discover Jesus as our sole treasure, to lay aside everything that keeps us from pursuing Him above all else, and to realize that "It's Not About Me." This is the complete opposite message that the world is telling us, that we are the center of the universe and we should live for our personal desires and ambitions without a care in the world for anyone else. The maturity of evil is complete selfishness, while the maturity of righteousness is complete abandonment of selfishness. The harvest is ready.

Don’t Waste Your Life

Most people spend their lives on trivial diversions, seeking to gain comfort and pleasure for themselves. But Jesus said, "Whoever loses his life for my sake will save it." If the path to God-exalting joy and purpose is to "lose" your life rather than to waste it, then what are you waiting for? Some people may be offended by some things that he says - that simply going to work and raising your kids aren't all that God has called you to. There's a greater calling to consider. In conclusion, Piper makes his appeal to the reader "in the name of Jesus to wake up, and enlarge your heart, and stretch your mind, and spread your wings." For when all is said and done, what really matters is that those who are lost are lost no more.
