1 Timothy 6:6-11

"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

In this passage, Paul tells us the secrete to life - remain content.

This passage tells us that the combination of godliness and contentment is the key to life.

If we want to get rich, which is different than wanting to work hard to raise a family, we are more prone to temptations and traps as our selfish desires can quickly cause us to fall into.

One of the worst traps is falling into the 'love of money', because we cannot serve two masters and therefore cannot love God at the same time.

If we fall into this trap, we wander from the faith resulting in entangling our lives in things that do not bring us joy. In the process we lose the joy of the Lord, which comes by spending time getting to know Him.
