Luke 1:1-4

1/14/2018

"Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught."

This passage is how Luke begins his book.

He tells us that there were many eyewitnesses to the ministry of Jesus Christ and in order to make sure none of his account contained any errors or untrue stories, he personally and carefully investigated everything from the beginning, so that we would have a completely accurate account of the ministry of Jesus Christ.

The gospel accounts of Jesus Christ are not just a bunch of stories passed on from generation to generation that may contain errors and exaggerations.

No, the gospel account of Jesus Christ has been completely taken from eyewitnesses and thoroughly investigated so that we may know with certainty of the things that have been recorded.
